Jayapura, Jubi - Australia called bad neighbors for Pacific countries vulnerable to climate change and the need to get out of fossil fuel-based growth faster.

Former Irish president and climate change campaigner, Mary Robinson, made this statement in a lecture in Melbourne this week.

The Guardian, Thursday (17/03/2016) reports he urged rich countries to contribute to sustainable development in poor countries.
He said he had listened to the leader of the Pacific and they are very critical of Australia.
Robinson said that when he attended the Pacific Islands Development Forum 2015 she claimed that Pacific did not think Australia or New Zealand, especially Australia, as a good leader.

He said Australia was involved in fossil fuels in the economy, which hurts the economy and future.
Former UN Special Envoy on climate change has emphasized the role of climate finance - in which rich countries finance low carbon development in poor countries.

Robinson said that this should not be seen as a relief but a means of securing a safe world for future generations. (Victor Mambor)
