The Indonesian Government Act Unlawful In the Case of Human Rights in Papua

Papua Times, -Government of Indonesia, Joko Widodo instructed the Coordinating Minister for Political, legal and security in order to form a team to handle dozens of cases of human rights violations in Papua.

The coordinating minister for political, legal and security, Luhut Pandjaitan Form a team to Papua to assess the human rights cases.

Team formed Coordinating Minister for Political, legal and security were rejected by the people of West Papua as it is considered unlawful and is not representative so it will not resolve the human rights violations in Papua.

Papua People Crippling several major cities in Papua with peaceful demonstrations rejected the team formed by the Indonesian government on June 15, 2016.

The attitude of rejection not only of people, but come from various parties, including the Parliament of Papua.

Institute of Research, Study and Development of Legal Aid (LP3BH) Manokwari, Yan Cristian Warinusy  said, "Who has authority under Act No. 39 of 1999 on Human Rights and Law No. 26 of 2000 on Human Rights Court is a national Commission on Human Rights. Which specify the cases are violations of human rights or not is a national Commission on Human Rights. If this team had made which categories of human rights violations or not, it is Unlawful."

Chairman of the Papua Parliament, Yunus Wonda said, the team formed by the coordinating minister for political, legal and security it would not solve the problem of human rights in Papua. because the Coordinating Minister for Political, legal and Security is not an independent institution."

Responding to the team, the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enemben said last month,  that the cases of human rights in Papua should be resolved in the UN Human Rights court, if it does not submit, return to Papua in order to be solved by custom.

The coordinating minister for political, legal and Security settings, Luhut Panjaitan currently closed meeting with Joko Widodo in Jakarta last month said,
Indonesian government will not allow an independent agency, a foreign institution or anyone else involved in the case of human rights in Papua. if there is involved, the government will act decisively.
