Reporting from the site pacific.scoop.co.nz, Key also demanded the Indonesian government accountability for the murder that happened in Paniai, and some areas in West Papua.
“It’s inhuman incident, we condemn and hold the Indonesian government,” said Key, The Green Party, today (12.12.2014).
Key said he had received reports that five people were killed and dozens injured, when the Indonesian military and Indonesian police opened fire on the people in Paniai.
“The Prime Minister of New Zealand strongly condemn this inhumane murder,” added the spokesman John Key of the Green Party, Catherine Delahunty.
According to Catherine, the New Zealand government has been providing funding and training of Indonesian military and police, but what happened instead Indonesian military continues to kill Papuans.
“The government also has a relationship with Indonesia, despite the military and police treatment inhumane. We deeply regret it,” he said.
“The government has continued to build relationships with Indonesia despite human rights violations in Papua is very terrible, this needs to be laid off,” he added ..
Key also said the issue should be resolved legally, for having violated the human rights of Papuans, particularly residents of Paniai.
